Apple has unveiled successors to it’s last year devices- the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The design is identical to last year’s flagship devices and the only way you can differentiate between the two is through the ‘S’ logo on the back of the devices. So people looking for a new design would definitely be unimpressed. Although, the design is identical, what’s under the hood is different. It now runs on Apple’s A9 processor instead of the A8 on the iPhone 6. Also Apple introduced a pressure sensitive display, which enables a feature known as 3D Touch. What it does is that it shows menus and various other options on long press over an icon. Both iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are going to have this feature.

While the design is similar to last year’s devices, Apple has introduced a new colour – Rose Gold. It looks like a tainted pink, but will definitely be a hit among the ladies. Also, the iPhone 6s Plus now uses an improved Aluminium 7000 series unibody shell, which protects it from bending. The Bend-Gate definitely had an impact on Apple.

Now let’s talk in-depth about the 3D touch. It basically allows user to interact in two ways, ‘peek’ and  ‘pop’. Whenever, you long press on an icon, it displays many options that can be performed. For instance, if you long press on the Camera app, you get the option of taking a Selfie or a Slow-Motion video etc. Seems really cool !

Camera - Apple unveils the best iPhones ever

Now let’s talk about the Camera. Finally, there’s a camera upgrade. Now the main camera is a 12 megapixel on both 6s and 6s Plus. Moreover, the 6s Plus also has Optical Image Stabilisation. The front camera on both is a 5 megapixel shooter. You can now also shoot 4K videos @ 30 fps. Also there’s a new feature known as Live Photos. It lets you record 1.5s of video either side of the moment you press the shutter key, and later produces images that actually move when you press them. It’s just like HTC’s Zoe. It’s a good feature, but will demand a lot of storage.

The launch price of the iPhone 6s will be similar to that of the iPhone 6.  In the US, the phone will amount to $199 for the 16GB model with a two-year contract. The 64GB and 128GB ones will be available for $299 and $399, respectively.

The iPhone 6s Plus will cost $749 for the 16 GB model, $849 for the 32 GB model, and $949 for the 128 GB model. All these prices are for off-contract. The pre-order will begin on September 12th.
