When I think of my wife, I always think of the back of her head. I picture cracking her lovely skull, unspooling her brain, trying to get answers. The primal questions of a marriage: What are you thinking? How are you feeling? What have we done to each other? What will we do?
Hey Moviebuffs! So, yesterday I finally watched “Gone Girl“. It was in my pending list from months now but I was ignoring it intentionally due to my newly found love(*hate*) for Ben Affleck (*cough*BATMAN*cough*) that time. I became so assured that he is doomed to fail as the Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that I categorised him as a bad actor. But surprise surprise! he nailed it in this movie. Gone Girl is basically the movie adaptation of a novel by same name authored by Gillian Flynn.
So, yesterday I picked up this movie and set it up on my TV with a bowl full of popcorn and down to earth expectations. The movie starts with Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) and Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike). Amy is the prodigy writer and face of “The Amazing Amy” book series and Nick writes a column in a popular Men’s magazine. Nick and Amy meets in a *boring* party and Nick promises to save the day for Amy and the story starts quickly with them getting married and how it all starts. So, on their 5th marriage anniversary, The Amazing Amy goes missing and then starts a frenzy of event which will take you down a lane you wouldn’t have even imagined. Clue after clue, Nick finds himself deep in the accusation.
You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s…
Ben Affleck has done a good job, atleast very at par with the expectations, as Nick Dunne. But, the star of the show would be Rosamund Pike! She has done a tremendous role, the perfect act for the role. It looks like Gillian Flynn had Rosamund Pike in her mind while writing the role of Amy in her novel. Neil Patrick Harris makes a cameo in the movie as Amy’s long lost school crush.
Overall, I would strongly recommend you to watch this movie. It will give you thrill at every point. The story is very well written and movie is very well directed. Here is the official trailer for Gone Girl movie for you:
