Be Limitless | Open your mind

Needless to say, Limitless was one of the best movies of 2011. Bradley Cooper thrilled us with his great performance set up in parallel with an innovative plot. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment in the movie and wished it never ended. For those who don’t remember the movie or haven’t seen it, here’s the plot for movie:

With the help of a mysterious pill that enables the user to access 100 percent of his brain abilities, a struggling writer becomes a financial wizard, but it also puts him in a new world with lots of dangers.

Cover.

Sounds good? Well, guess what? CBS decided to build a television adaptation more like continuation after “Limitless” and it is also called..well..yeah.. “Limitless”. This is setup in the same universe as the movie and this series picks up right after the NZT addict Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) becomes a Senator and researches on the drug to make it better. And that’s about it.

The TV series is focused around another guy named Brian Finch (Jake McDorman). The pilot episode will remind you of the movie at multiple points. Pilot starts with Brian as an average Joe who is struggling with his life and has no future. Also the sudden encounter with an old friend with a little clear pill is a bit similar.

Also, in the pilot plot Brian has to work out:

  • How to get a supply of NZT?
  • Who killed his friend/supplier?

Rings a bell eh? 😎

Now without spoiling much, let’s talk about the direction of the Pilot. The Pilot episode builds up the momentum in the first half but by the time I reached the end I was a bit disappointed to be honest.

I wont spoil it for you but Limitless does have a lot of potential to be creative and do something new with this series instead of moulding it up into just another Mentalist alike show.

So go for it. Pilot surely is a promising ride. Do let us know your views about the show in comments below.

Honestly most of the tv shows here in the U.S. SUCK, too much drama queen and stupid silly crap or dancing and megalo rich clowns bragging on the tube all the time.
This show is pretty good, it’s funnier than the movie theme, and has interesting puzzle like challenges to solve with lots
    of action, I like it.

Hey dude (that’s your name eh?!),

I agree with your view. We in India only gets to see the best of US TV shows which works well for us. Limitless is developing a bit nicely for my taste. Let’s see how they decides to progress it. 🙂
